FEM-Design PreDesign Module

In Brief

The module PreDesign is designed to performing a load-run-down and quantity calculations as a basis for cost estimations of structures in 3D (early stage calculation).

The load run-down calculation will give you exact information about the column/wall stresses and forces, and together with the reactions you can easily design the framework structure and the foundation. These results together with the tensile- and compression forces you are able to estimate the structure total stability.

The built-in special tools for easy modelling make it possible to create a 3D model on basis of a cad drawing or from scratch in early stages of a project. Working with PreDesign will give you new possibilities and helps you to select a good statically model and building methods.

When you have defined the structure in PreDesign, a file which can be read by the Plate and Wall modules, is created. You decide the level for the slab in question after which it is transferred to Plate. Geometry, material properties and support conditions will be transferred to Plate (possible columns and walls situated below or above the plate will be supports). Further, all loads on the current slab, load cases and load combinations will be available in the Plate module. The user can then define arbitrary changes after which an analysis and a design can be performed. There is also possible to open the PreDesign file with the highly sophisticated FEM-Design 3D Structure module, for analysis of stability calculations, 2nd order theory, eigen-frequencies and seismic calculations.
